Poor old AstraZeneca looking wobbly after Yes you guessed it another 52H hit yesterday - incidentally the highest since the crash lows! We should get a slide but global pharma is strong so it might now be a smackdown.

From Sublime to ............

HMV has come up on the radar screen .......... again. Pretty precariously balanced but my stop is below 147 lows. I think there is stake building but I could be deluding myself.... because it's on the deck.

In at 18.5 out at 23.5 - knew smart money was in looking for turnaround and saw mega volume pre close last week. Smart money is still there so will come back when froth has subsided following yesterdays results.

Sorry nothing to do with Magic52 but look at this consolidation. These triangles are popping up all over the show - Man Group recently broke out violently to the upside eventually... But Aggreko (Agk) is just sitting there quietly - for now. Results out in a fortnight or so should be positive.. but as you know anything can happen so Be Careful.

Quick one - boss is back from hols .......
Oracle ORCL made 52H (3yr plus highs actually) Thursday and Sun Micro SUNW made 52H today

Alert - McDonalds breaks out to make 6yr highs - but not stretched yet. This one should be a cinch.... Famous last words ?? Need to do some digging to see that the coast is clear for an offensive.

US Stox at 52L0ws

Two interesting theme........ Gold is putting in a bit of a dead cat bounce so Newmont might be interesting - but it's very weak. Traders only. Investors may want to put it on their watch list as we enter seasonally strong period for Gold.

Fuel Cell is also in pretty bad shape (but so was GM until....) - alternative energy is not dead but oil price has trashed sentiment. Again very weak but.... sentiment may change as we go forward and Fcel is high beta play. This is really for traders only as their technology is still a sexy story.

UK - A thing of beauty - revisited 6/9/06

Around 4wks a go I posted a chart of AGK winding up into a pennant/triangle consolidation. I hinted results would be good and that an upside move was more likely than down. Well see for yourself. Phew what a scorcher!!!!

These kind of opps are rare. It reports Tuesday after the bell and it made a 2yr low Friday. However, it closed pretty near the high of the day and could be............ about to make a comeback.

Sure the report could be terrible and it gets slammed Wed ..... but how much bad news is already priced in .......... I'm looking to get long. I just hope there isn't an upgrade before my trade! It should be interesting trading until Tues 4pm!

Signs of life or my imagination ?

Yahoo went on to make new lows on 20th Oct (well after the results). This time we made a doji on candlestick chart to indicate the possibility that the downside was spent in the short term. As you can see we had a nice uptrend week and now need to regain 2600. Alas I think down trend resistance will kick in in 2700/2800 region but we'll see......... it has plenty of work to do.

Yahoo is also supported by none other than The Motley Fool US and Cramer .......... so there are plenty of eyes on this one.

What I would like to see is a run at 2700/2800 in the next couple of weeks then a pullback which holds 2500 but ideally 2600. I can't see us blowing 3000 near term - at least not without a pullback. The flip side is we are still very weak and a shot at 2000 should not be ruled out

this low is at the balance point from the low of 2001
the monthly looks like it has a good reversal the weekly almost guarantees a break above 25.72 look to me like its looking for a high and then we either go sideways for a bit or it drops to 24.3 ish ideally to 23.5 then you have a good base to propel
but if it goes all at once to your target which i agree totally then expect new lows

Yep both gapped after bottoming recently but ....... perhaps more interestingly I've notice a big player has just increased their weighting in these two........

Investigate further before taking the plunge - I could be wrong!!

SORRY only Conoco is near 52L - I'll try to keep it PURE in future ... interesting though.

Conoco went from 5800 to 6330 this week
Phelps Dodge went from 8300 to 10145 this week - as they Doubled quarterly earnings

Bit disappointed with the progress of Conoco (so far) but the call on Phelps was pleasing.
Made money on both but jumped ship on Phelps a bit too early - bad management!

1- Often good things happen when big name companies make 52L - especially when markets are flying.

2- If possible try and discover what smart investors are doing in a seemingly dead stock. It sounds obvious but it's not easy to do as many smarties are anonymous. However, with quoted investment companies it's a little bit easier..... at least in UK.

Did someone say Alternative Energy ?

Fuel Cell $6.72 has been on my watch list for a while and made 52L in last few days. It's sort of a sexy play on higher oil prices but now people are saying alternative energy should get more attention .......... due to midterms.

Anyway it looks like it wants to have a shot at the upside but its early days and $8 is still likely ceiling for now. Speculative - concept stock.
