The MACD can give you crossovers (when an older moving average falls behind a more recent one or the other way around) and it can be used to spot divergences. It is most commonly used with RSI and its most common settings are 12,26,9 but I use the 5,35,10 on the 5 minute charts. Some would say that it is a waste of time and down with all indicators and others may not. I use it to confirm my trades its more psychological then an indicator to me but I am not a professional trader.
