M&A to Trading?

Hi all

I'm currently a top ranked 2nd year analyst in M&A at a bulge bracket in London. While I enjoy the job, I don't want my life to pass me by while I'm working 90hrs a week and intellectually I'm much more interested in the markets side of things, macro environment, etc. As such, I am contemplating approaching HR about a switch over to the S&T side of things.

Has anyone heard of this happening before? How will I be viewed by the traders? How can I maximise my chances of successfully making the switch?
