In my younger days I called myself a punk rocker, I was out at the pub one night when all my mates said they where off down the road to see a band called "The Spots" and I said I was tired and I would give it a miss. It turns out that it was the Sex Pistols playing under a Pseudonym and I missed a great (historic) night. They were using Pseudonym's on their tour because of the 'excitement' they were creating at the time (I picked that word deliberately based on my memories of the time, but it may not translate entirely).
I love music generally and live perfomancies especially because of the emotion they generate. This got me thinking about all the astonishing performancies that I had been privileged to witness over the years and my regrets at those that I had missed. Some of the best live concerts I attended at the time were Stiff Little Fingers, The Damned, Metallica etc. I worked with a guy that was always bragging about seeing Jimi Hendrix on the Isle of Wight. I thought I would start a thread dedicated to such "unrequited loves". As a huge Joy Division fan I wish I had been present to a gig like this :

Further back, I would love to have seen The Who live. What's the best band you've seen live? and who do you wish you'd seen live?
