Live & Die by the sword....

I'm looking to do some backtesting on movements in the FTSE. Does anyone know a website where I can find historical charts or can select historical timeframes to recreate a chart (e.g. April 2nd - May 3rd 2004 etc). For example you can do this with individual stock charts on the Hemscott site but not any of the indices.

Any suggestions or links would be appreciated.

Hi Kris
Have you tried ProRealTime for your FTSE data. They have all end of day information free and you can set up charts and backtest theories using their programmable workstation. The data comes with volumes, MACD, RSI and host of other indicators too.

It's not looking good with the FTSE surge after the options expired at 10.30 this morning. At 5086 you're nearly 1044pts down, after allowing for your banked profit and the current 100pt gain on the longs. Seems that your only hope at the moment is that oil has now gone above $57 and this might trigger an adverse response in the US when the markets open there.

You've had a rough time with this - I really hope that it turns around for you over the next 2 weeks.

certainly is, Bull!

17th today.. 3 cycles coming in today on the Dow.. the forces are strong...

bit scary in the short term, but thats what catastrophe stops are for!
