I run IG and MT4 on my laptop which is getting slower and slower due to old age....

If I run IG I am down to 10% memory left - with MT4 it's at 60% left i.e. takes up way less memory

I thought MetaTrader was a Graph package siomilar to Sharescope but it looks like a trading platform

Yes, it's mainly for trading FX.

yes many brokers offer it for free but only in demo account

I'm confused because I thought Meta Trader was a Charting package however it looks like a full broker service.'

Just use it for your charts and any broker you like to trade.
