To stop burning fossil fuel is only part of the story.
As long as you burn fossil fuel ther is no recycling, no way back from CO2.
About panels what you say was true 20 years ago.
When 100% energy will be renewable the energy cost to produce something will be out of the equation.
We have too reach the point of 100% renewable energy and 98% recyclable raw materials.
This is capitalism, someone has to make money to move forward.
I ma not saying Tesla lithum batteries are the best to store energy in the grid but that is what they have today.
Probably other kind of batteries have a much longer lifetime, even flywheels or liquid air make more sense.
The point is that we have to go to renewable generation and develop electricity storage.
Those who belong to this greener economy will make money.

I agree.
We've never moved forward faster.
I'm all for it. There is no going back.
But make no mistake. Restoring the atmosphere to pre-mammallion levels of CO2 is hardly going to favour mammals. And we're already way past that. There will likely be dire consequences. Just not in our lifetime.
Enjoy the benefits. The alternatives don't bear thinking about.
Green is good. Green is profit.
Lets make money.

Climate change is slow. Inevitable, but slow.
It'll flood over a third of global cities before it's done, but not this century.
Plenty of time for a few mass migrations.
And think of the market opportunities.
The Tesla family boat, (charges from wind/ solar/ wave when idle) for popping to the floating shops.
The Tesla dinghy (made from biodegradable materials) for all your people-smuggling needs.
Boundless possibilities.

BTW we do what we can.
You have to make a choice, I decided that Musk and Gates are good guys.
We have to decide who are the good guys and who are tha bad guys.
Maybe it is too late but investing Tesla I am making mnoey and accelerating the transition to sustainable energy.

I ma not an expert about grids but I am a chemist, and from a chemical standpoint this is the way to go, kudos.
Lithium is the present while Ca/Sb is the future for grid scale.

To be honest I'm not interested in the company, what it does or how 'daddy Musk' is going to save the universe with his technology. I'm just here to buy and sell and make money.

Gasoline is much more flammable than batteries...
Competition by VW is serious but I would be courious if they are profitable selling their electric cars.
All companies produce electric cars but they are not pushing them because they are not meking money with electric cars.
Even decent cars like Zoe Leaf and Kona are not advertised by their companies, they prefer to advertise internal combustion models, or mild-hybrid bullshit.
Brands are important, I think tesla will sell a lot of skateboards to other car manifacturers
