How many retail traders in the markets?

i'm just trying to see if anyone knows the depth of market . is it growing? how fast etc?

It's just a further extension of gambling to them. A sales guy came back from there and he said he saw a group of old women in a back alley sat round a lap-top punting Hang Seng.

i think from recollection that IG index give an indication of accounts they have - or certainly new accounts in the period. See their periodical investor relations

simon from cs i think said they had 50k accounts.
i suppose t2w might have done some market research.

yeah IG group apparently have 56,291 clients as of an unknown recent date.

Although a third of them (such as me!) have never put any money in their account. Some others (such as me!) have more than one account as well.
