Has anyone tried a completely free prop challenge before?

Anyone here tried those free prop challenges where you get a real funded account if you pass? Wondering if they’re actually worth the time or always have some hidden trap.

I recently came across this prop firm called JoinX and they claim that they will give you a real funded account if you pass the challenge

Anyone tried it?

The 1-star reviews make it seem like a scam.

I agree however it is hard to decide as there are some good reviews as well. That's why I'm asking if someone had a genuine experience here

I have been looking into this subject as part of my larger plan to train struggling traders

At this point I am considering FTMO, Topstep, and MyFunded Trader, however I have concerns
as regards the lack of live telephone for these (for any) of these firms. At this point none of them
seem to provide any real immediate support, and to me, that signals a lack of concern for the
success of the client.

My "Larger" plan is to choose one (1) prop firm or funding program, and show how I can help
a struggling trader to make the transition to consistent profit, by following my program. At first
I will model that process by going through it myself, while Live Streaming my daily trades via
Zoom.

As far as the reviews, I think they are ALL crap. They seem to be aimed at promoting one or another
of these companies without mentioning the problems that a struggling trader has to overcome to
get to their goal.

For me, step one is getting to talk to a live human being about their company and how it all works
I will post again IF I can get someone (anyone) on the phone.

Good luck

Update for London & Euro Traders as of Dec 18

I contacted FTMO and to their credit, they responded not once
but twice, to my inquiries, asking if they supported trading the
S&P 500 Futures. Both times, it was human beings who responded
and they spoke English and were responsive, however the bottom line
seems to be that they do NOT provide have access to CME data for
the front month of the S&P 500 Futures. What seems to be the case
(in my opinion) is that they provide a CFD (Contract for Difference)
instead, which I do not want. So I thanked them and will move on
to another vendor

To remind readers, I am interested in trading only the S&P 500 Futures
AND I am hoping to find a vendor who will provide "live" customer support
(NOT an AI Bot, but a real living breathing human being). Why? well
frankly I am not a fan of AI. In my opinion trying to obtain a solution to a
problem by talking to an AI agent is like talking to a small child. It is
frustrating.

Ultimately I intend to document my journey in a series of articles and
(perhaps) include my experiences along the way in a book I am working
on that will be published by Wiley.

I was going to say that I just got off the phone with Topstep but
to be accurate, I did not speak to a live person, instead I talked to
an AI agent named "Windy", after saying that I wanted to speak to a
"representative" several times, I was told that there is no live phone support until
January 5th in observance of the Christmas Holiday. Incredible.
Apparently they can take in money on a monthly basis but cannot afford to pay
for a live person a few extra dollars to work on a Friday prior to the weekend

Crossing them off my list and on to the next

This update for readers interested in my journey to see if I can find a Funded Trader
program that provides 1) Live phone support and 2) a program with reasonable rules
that a skilled trader can pass if they use good risk management and take trades that
align with a previous trend on two (2) time frames, one a higher time frame (hourly for example)
and a shorter time frame (3 minutes or 5 minutes for example).

Located in California, I received a promotional email from TakeProfitTrader, informing me of
a special program (40% off, no activation fees) at the bottom of the email, it was signed "James"
which I assume means that this was sent by the owner of the business who's name (as I understand it)
is James Sixsmith. So at 8:13am local time in California, I replied that I was interested and had three (3)
questions. Initially I said I would wait to hear from them, but as of now (it is 11:26am local time) no response.

That's all I have to say at this time. No judgements, just letting it play out.

It is 12:42pm in California
and still no response from TakeProfitTrader support
I have sent them an email, informing them that I am no longer interested in
their offer (of 40% off)
I also pointed out that they seem to be very good at sending our emails but not
very good at reading them. ( I have sent several today)

On to another vendor
