Gross inequality in UK

Traditionally in Britain the political pendulum has swung between Tories and Socialism,
But no longer. People don't seem to trust Labour to fix the problems,
so they are now turning to populists and fringe parties like the Greens.
It has also happened elsewhere.
Times are a changing.

We live in interesting times Pat and IMO the Westminster system in its current form is no longer appropriate. I think that the referendum balls-up has shown us that whilst the idea of direct democracy is appealing, as a nation we don't have a clue how to manage it. Personally, I'd like to see an extended period where the same approach that allows people to petition on line could be used for micro-referenda that would create a culture that might promote not just political awareness but perhaps greater understanding of what democracy entails. We could start with less contentious issues like on-the-spot fines or the impounding of the bikes of cyclists who ride on pavements, etc etc and then work our way up to matters of greater import....like the re-introduction of the pre-decimal currency. I have a personal fondness for the Groat :)

I have seen figures suggesting that the top 1% owns over 50% of the assets in the UK.
Hardly a recipe for social harmony. The Tories are beginning to catch the backlash of average people's frustration and anger.

With years of Government and Central Bankers meddling more and more with the economy is it a surprise there is such gross inequality(?)....and to think there are buffoons who think more Government involvement is the solution.

1.More corporate teamwork is needed imho which entails fairer wages/rewards.
2.Promotion from within the company if possible - not someone's fellow parachuted in who rips off the employees.
3. Bigger taxes on foreign ownership/exploitation.
4. Workers can block a City sell-off to foreigners by a 75% vote amongst employees.

Sounds quite left wing but it is designed for the general good of the country.

There is going to be a revolution in the work place.
High levels of unemployment etc.

Maybe there will be a basic income for all. But does this mean today's rich will just keep their wealth for no return like work ?
Maybe so.
