GOOG trading imminent - Nasdaq Mkt maker Madoff says Google may open at $90-$95.....!!!

Long or Short Guys........?

My instinct says the overpriced little search engine will be sold off pronto........

Any other thoughts on this.....?........anyone planning to trade it today.......?

thought you werent allowed to short IPO's for 3 days? might be mistaken.

still, it does seem a little overpriced.

isnt it on a p/e of over 100 or so? ludicrous.

long-term short yes. initially? not so sure....

If you're not allowed to short it, there's only one trade left imho.............

12:01pm 08/19/04 Google IPO at $97.48 on volume of 4.5M shares

Looks like it could be a long - (but for how long...... .....?!)

The chart is a little difficult to analyse so far - looks like it opened at $135, ran to $140 and dropped to below $100........

volatile little beast....... :-0

The gameplan becomes clear – buy at $94.50, sell at $102, 20mins later – retire and buy a small Caribbean Island………

Fortunes being made before our eyes………

or lost lol..

good job im not even thinking about touching it for a long while....

are you in or just observing the madness?

I've just put my deposit on the Caribbean Island - bit of luck they didn't let me short it.........

(downtick rule and all that.......!)

:p

The plot grows thicker............

The Nasdaq said Thursday it's looking into two errant trades in Google shares before the official opening that had news organizations and investors scrambling to keep up with the latest surprise in the dramatic "A broker-dealer put up premature data," Nasdaq spokeswoman Sylvia Davi said at midday Thursday.

She declined to say which broker-dealer was responsible for the glitch.

At one point, data screens showed Google (GOOG: news, chart, profile) shares trading in a range of $135 to $140 a share, far above the $85 offering price.

Google's shares opened officially $100.01, at 11:55 a.m. In early afternoon trade, the shares changed hands at $101.28.

While the Google IPO's every move has been closely scrutinized, it's not unusual for minor irregularities to appear when shares debut.

"Bad data can happen for a million reasons," said Mark Madoff of Nasdaq market maker Madoff Investments

Ha..........!.............. :devilish:

Boy - hope you've made enough to purchase Paradise Island with the proceeds...........!

(or even Canvey Island - it's rich in oil......... :) )

still fascinated with this 'bad data' that hiked the opening price by $35+........!!

bet that caught a few suckers.........they call it "pump and dump" don't they............?

quite a nice trading range once it settled down a bit......

And if you had an accident, would that make you a No Ball?

Unfortunately our international readers won't have a clue what a Googly is, nor a Womble, unless they come from England, Australia, South Africa, India, New Zealand, West Indies, Pakistan, Sri Lanka,Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, or Wimbledon Common. :cheesy:
And apologies if I've left out any other great cricketing nation.
