GNUTRADE.....who are they

The interface looks pretty slick, but it's basically just offering a combination of:

"per point" bets - bog standard spread betting
"basic" bets - BetOnMarket-style bets, except a smaller range of options
"back players" bets - this looks interesting, but has two major issues:

1) People who are backed while trading well with play money get a share of the profits - I assume this is the profit of the back bets (as opposed to the play money profit), in which case if the traders are so successful, why are they still on play money?

2) For traders who are successful with real money, what incentive is there for making their porfolio public so that other people can back them? Do they get a share of the profits of the back bets placed on themselves? If not, then surely there is no incentive at all for going "public"?

Interesting idea though, surprised I only just heard of them from this thread...

can you elaborate on what they offer and what their spreads and timeframes are. I couldnt fid a list of their prices

Not sure about the spreads, I just took a look at their tour. Regarding timeframes for the basic bets - it looks like increments of 5 min are possible and only higher/lower bets seem to be offered (BetOnMarkets offer a far wider range)

Great demo tour, I supposed it also include ladbrokes and choiceodds fixed odds betting right? anyone tried it live?

I guess they are like the others and probably dont hedge and will take only small bets.Surely one of them will become big eventually and take all the bets, hedge so they dont lose and we all make money. I dont even feel like trying any of them in case they run with my money. Id happily put money into Ladbrokes but they seem to reject to many bets and bar winning punters. Untill one of these sites has a track record Ill stick with Binarybet

I just signed up with them so I can check out the spreads etc. Still waiting for my log in details etc.

Looking at the walk through tour the spreads seem massive. Lets hope that they arent anywhere near that big on the real platform. On the demo GBP/USD quote appears to be 1.8477-1.8493 !!! Spreadtastic! Cable at 16 point spread! If that is their spread for real then that's all you really need to know. They also offer a number of other BoM and Ladbrooks style bets but these also look absolutely stacked against the punter.

Once I have my real account details I'll report back.

Not holding my breath!

Steve.

lol that doesnt sound promising its probably a gimmick site for people and newbies clueless about odds

 OK, all signed up. Spreads are, as I feared, off the planet....

A quick cross section of spreads....

FTSE 10 Points (yes, before you ask these are whole points not decimals!)
CAC 16 Points
DAX 10 Points

EURUSD 15 Ticks
JPYUSD 16 Ticks
USDGBP 16 Ticks

Gold $2.0 (20 points based on tenths)
Oil 20 Cents
30 Year T Bond 20 Points
German Bund 20 Points.

Crazy.

My eyes are still watering!

Steve.

amazing great for them they just lay them off with stealforfree and job done. How do the 5 mins bets work is it 1.5 each side

The time bets are very simple....

£5 per time to play (you can obviously scale the stake up)

If you lose then you lose your £5

If you win you make £3.80

In order to win you must predict whether the particular market is higher or lower than when you place the bet.

They only move it in whole points

If it is a dead heat (ie the same level as when you placed the bet) then they consider that the market is not higher or lower and hence in a dead heat you also (surprise surprise) lose.

It therefore makes sense to bet on longer time frames since the chances of the market ending on a dead heat (ie the market equivilent of 'green zero') are reduced since market range (and therefore the number of slots that the ball can land in) are increased as market range is a function of time.

Odds seem stacked in the firms favour.

Steve.

Yes but how long does it take for them to execute a price? Their spreads may be wide but if they execute at least you know the volatility at which you are trading. There are some sites (I think we all know which sites I am talking about) that in reality are trading on wider spreads than GNU's.

Tinpot. Id stay well away from them they are new and it seems to be more of a fun site.Their spreads do not compare with binarybet, cmc, ladbrokes, extrabet.

What are your views? Is there anyone you would recommend?
