Hello - I was wondering if anyone could inform me on what my realistic expectations of getting a place in a propp firm is given my current circumstances... Also if you could recommend some for me to look into... I've heard Futex is good, it costs to train and then possibly then offer you a job?
I think on paper i am not the best applicant for a propp firm, i haven't got the best qualifications but any means, i would say on paper i'm an average applicant... However i am proven in trading, i've traded at home for some time now and i've been succesful consistantly in Spreadbetting, ECN forex, futures and US/UK stocks - So in terms of what a propp firm would want me to do and trade, i can pretty much adapt to any type of trading... My results on the futures are very good, but i was wondering if having a track record could get me a job - The thing is i don't need training, i think i would enjoy the extra education but its certainly not needed, is it possible to walk straight into a job at futex without undergoing the training ?
Is having a good track record in trading, and i do mean a very good one, is that enough for me to get a place in a propp firm despite not having the best qualifications?

Thanks. If you need more details on my track record do ask because this is relatively urgent for me... Thankyou.

P.s. The reason i want to trade for a firm rather than myself is the social interaction with other traders, it can become tedious trading at home... I have enough money to financially back myself at home but trading for a firm i think would be a more enjoyable experience for me, plus if i was given enough money to trade 30+ contracts on the ES that would be very nice also.

Trader_Dante has mentioned some stuff about this before, but my own two cents would be that you should apply; they can only say no, and you won't find anywhere better to begin a professional trading career. On the other hand, if your results have been that good, can you scrape together 10k or so and just buy a seat?

Yeah, easily, i didn't know you could buy a seat? Could you go into a bit more depth?
To be honest, i would just prefer trading my own money in a propp firm but i don't know if thats possible?

This is soooo obvious, the mods really do not have a clue.

Congrats Skill Leverage on some fine work

If you're implying that I am both myself and Gladiator, I encourage the mods to check the IPs. Tafita I'm not sure what your problem is, but I have better things to do with my time than hold conversations with myself.

That was certainly not what I was implying and in this day and age, anyone can hide/fake IP's so your empty invitation to the mods should be ignored.

Cheers for your help Skill L. I've contacted them and i'm looking into buying a seat and back myself.

I don't get it....

Why do you want to go there and back yourself? Just to use their facilities or to learn something from it? If it's to use their facilities, why go to futex?

Its to use the facilities and be around other traders... I don't know why Futex, i've just heard good things on this forex from people... Can you recommend any?

Where are you based?

All arcades are filled with traders, some good, some bad and Futex is no different in this aspect. I think a major factor to your decision should be the location + desk rates.

I think you need to dig a little deeper/read between the lines. Like Masquerade I'm not sure that a prop shop is where you ought to be, especially Futex.

All the best traders that I know or have ever heard of, trade from a professional environment. I have mentioned before about the need to be "wired-in" to the market. If you wish to take trading up a level, it as an absolute necessity to get on a trading floor. (fair enough if you do not want to up your game, then dont put yourself on a trading floor)

Skill,

Can you put the details on the board for everyone to see. I myself
have thought about backing myself from an office instead of
trading from home and would be interested in how things
would work with putting your own money up.

Cheers
