FTSE at 154 - eek!!!

Just found some old records up in the loft from the early '70s when I was just about cleaned out. FTSE fell from 510 to 154 (70%) in just over a year. No shorting vehicle for amateurs in those days.

Must have been a crazy decade. I was speaking to someone who was an investment adviser at the time, and he was able to convince quite a few new clients to invest around that time. They all made crazy gains - didn't the market shoot up X hundred percent in the near aftermath?
