I have tried searching the boards for threads on this topic but it has been really difficult to find answers. First of all, the only reason I'm cheap is because I'm currently a college student with low funds. I have been doing research nonstop and think I found a simple swing trading strategy worth trying out, but the trouble is, it's difficult to find free software to exercise it with. I am using the free version of Quotetracker for charting but I'm looking for a good screener with technical indicators. I want one with the option to filter with ADX and Williams %R, any suggestions? Any suggestions for charting software are welcome too, thank you

If you still searching you can have a look at Start: TradeProject
At the moment the package doesn't include ADX and Williams %R, but you can develop them in C/C++ if you like. Anyway it can show daily charts and - most important: it is free.

Although everyone seems to start with technical indicators like %r, adx etc most of those that survive the trading game move past them. I won and then later lost my first few thousand dollars with %r.
If you want to move forward you would be better studying market profile (but mainly to build a model of how markets work in your head - most traders lack a good one) and Wyckoff. Then have a look at the floor trader method and ask why it might work ... what is the point of a couple of mas when Nine is so disparaging of indicators.
So, IMO, stop looking for the right screener and start working on the right mental tools.

thank a lot trailingstop, nickrus, and nine. I decided to keep reading and developing my knowledge a little more instead of getting hyped up on what software, indicators, and patterns to use. I just checked the current book I am reading, Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets, and Market Profile is covered a bit there but Wyckoff is merely touched upon... any suggested readings? websites or books, thank you for your help
If you want a installed software on your computer, you can take a look at FreeCharts at Spacejock Software. Most charting software is expensive because of the data but this one can allow you to import data from variety of sources such as Yahoo Finance and Google Finance.

As you mention your approach is swing trading, I suggest you abandon the idea of using screener to hook big win. Simply pick 10-15 stocks that has regular swing and you will achieve consistent profits.

I'm trying to focus on U.S. stocks for now
Have a look at Finviz.com. Although it does not have those filtering options, it does have good filters to find weak and strong stocks. There is also a visual map to show weak/strong sectors and top performers within each sector
