Spread betting, IG Index

Does anyone else find IG annoying sometimes. It has happened brfore but just trying to buy a few RCG holdings (mkt quote 54.75-55)
IG quote (JUNE) 53.23-53.91
Try to buy and says closing trades only. Yeah, right at 53.23!!

Today IG have 57.48-58.95 (no buying) whilst market is 59-60 (10k offered).
Still, I suppose there is no rules/obligation for them to make a market!

I dont c the diffrence ...

Presumably there is a dividend being paid, which is why the June future is lower than the cash. Interest rates being what they are, there's b*gger all cost of carry.

could be (1.5p ex 1/4/09) Should that make a difference as they are both cum div?
Why no buying orders allowed though. Most of the business is done in Hong Kong so maybe that's why.

A dividend would make a difference as the futures price takes account of the dividend by stripping it out. If I understood your first post, it's not 'no buying', but 'no opening positions', which -although in this case they amount to the same thing for you- are different.

Is the rolling daily one open for trading?

I don't know about the daily one.
I have an open long position and wanted to buy more (but couldn't).
You are right in saying it's no opening orders, presumably if you were short you could buy to close (I would hope so anyway)

Why don't you just buy the underlying stock?

Ig do DMA so you could even just take the stock on the order book couldn't you?
