Economic Calendar

Does anyone know if there is such a calander that shows all the major economic news for the year ahead? And where I can view it!!

Not everything is pre planned but surely the big ones (NFP, Consumer Confidence, GDP, Rate announcements etc) are known well ahead of the time, maybe?! 😕

If you click on the underscored entries it takes you to a description of them, including details on when they're released. The problem is that relatively few of them seem definite, more than a few are 'around' a certain date or week.

Certainly when I wanted similar calendars for corporate reporting, it was essentially impossible to get any accuracy more than a quarter out.
 
Hmmm, I got the same sort of thing looking at the Bloomberg calander. It shows when they are supposed to be each month but generally only give the month, not the date. I think I'm going to have to do alot of manual work and make my own calander, even then, its not going to be very accurate or helpful!

Cheers Joules but I can only get months and dates for the year previous (ie 2006) but not ahead for 2007. Maybe when 2007 kicks in they'll produce forward dates but can't find anything more than a week ahead at the moment.

Apart from NFP being on the 1st Friday each month (and even then its sometimes the 2nd), it would be handy to know a bit more ahead than 2 weeks. Like NFP, are any other announcements systematically scheduled? I have a link for the FOMC announcements but thats it. http://minneapolisfed.org/info/policy/dates-hist.cfm

Would be surprised if they wern't (UK, Euroland, Jap & US). I'd suggest hunting around the websites of the Central Banks etc

Its a shame Americans can only think of themselves but at least thats part covered. Just need the UK done and happy days.

Yes you're right on that. US news all around the place. Haven't found anything UK related our specific European dates. In fact I'm looking for a calendar indicating major German macro-economic data but have yet to find anything...
 
Its annoying that Europe don't have such a thing and I would have thought England would have something more. It amazes me how little cable gets in the news despite the Euro having more liquidity, cable is still popular and the amount of news from here is high enough to warrant something but, CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg, Reuters, Marketwatch - all American based so what can you expect really.

US news is are annotated until February, but EU related isn't on the map that for in the future.
On the other hand, you can specifically choose a country (or countries) and list for instance all those UK-related news items coming up in the next week! I'm pretty sure this is more what you're looking for wasp...
 
We hope to incorporate an economic calendar into the new relaunched T2W site, if not straight away then soon after launch. We'll keep you posted with developments as they happen.
 
http://www.forexfactory.com/calendar.php is the most complete USA +EUR calendar I'm aware of, but it doesn't get updated quickly after release, and gaining access to the site can be difficult at release time due to the crowds.
The main thing I like about this calendar however, is positive stats are in green, and negative in red. I find it difficult to know whether some statistics are an improvement or worse than the previous release. Having this colour coding really helps, and I'd hope that T2W amy also incorporate this type of colour coding if/when an economic calendar is added to T2W (which seems like an excellent idea BTW).

We certainly will colour code and intend to cover both US and European announcments. If anyone has any other requests then do let us know.
 
If you could cover Scandinavian news releases too it would be handy Paul. I know of at least a few members who'd appreciate it as well as myself.
 
Don't trust the forexfactory calendar to be complete for the week ahead if you print it off on a Sunday.
Today for example, 1030 GMT BOE inflation report is on the calendar, but was not on the calendar on Sunday. You need to check it daily for updates.
Luckily i wasn't in a cable trade at 1030.

I hope the new T2W calendar is better maintained than the forex factory calendar.
