Can anyone recommend any good books or dvd's on trading principles to help get me started.

I appreciate there is a wealth of information on this site, I am however looking for a single source of material that will give me a good grounding

try the dummies books.they are great,also cheap
there is trading for dummies.also technical anlysis for dummies.currency trading for dummies
they go right to the point.no psychology or trading in the zone etc
they are a great starter
