Heard of it but didn't know it was a comedy - will check it out (y)

luv it, he's terrific

Rumpole enjoys smoking inexpensive cigars (cheroots), drinking cheap red wine (claret), and indulging in a diet of fried foods, overboiled vegetables, cheese-and-tomato sandwiches, and steak and kidney pudding. Every day he visits "Pomeroy's",[2] a wine bar on Fleet Street within walking distance of the Old Bailey and his chambers at Equity Court, and at which he contributes regularly to an ever-increasing bar tab by purchasing glasses of red wine of a questionable quality, to which he refers as either "Cooking Claret",

Despite his affection for the criminal classes, Rumpole's character is marked by a firm set of ethics. He is a staunch believer in the presumption of innocence, the "Golden Thread of British Justice". He often reinforces this by proclaiming that it is better for 10 guilty men to go free than for one innocent to be convicted

My favourite era was the 70's but I was only born in '76 so most of the stuff I got into was from repeats in the 80's that appealed to me as a child. So, the grown-up, clever stuff passed me by.

me too, i'm 42 but discovered it much like monty python series. great stuff way back, much much better clever than what is produced today imo

take the game of thrones...can't get into all that epic dungeons & dragons thing..am i wrong? do you watch it? is there a greater underlying profundity that i am missing? all everyone talks about & lives for here in the states:sleep:

Tried to get into Game of Thrones because of all the hype but couldn't. Think it just appeals to ppl too repressed and prim to watch porn online, ie.women

Should have started a poll with the thread for favourite classic comedy actors, but for me, it would be so hard to call. There are so many good'ns and they are so different.

Let's think...

David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Ronnie Barker, Harry H Corbett, Wilfred Brambell, Leonard Rossiter, Rowen Atkinson, John Cleese
