China firstly changed from coal exporter to net importer. On January 12, General Administration of Customs released that China exported 2.07mln tons of coal in December and the total net import reached 89.10mln tons in the first eleven months, which indicated that China’ s coal import presented net state in the whole year of 2009.

It is learned that China’s coal resource is rich, as a big producer, export as well as consumer of coal, the annual coal output and consumption of China accounted for over 40% of the world.

However, Li, expert of Distribution of Production and Promotion Center (DPPC) disclosed that the net import state of China should be temporary. The demand and supply of domestic coal resource is basically balanced, with the increasing demand of the international market, China is no likely to import large quantity coal from the market.

At the same time, China’s coal import increased dramatically. Li said that China’s dependence on foreign coal is about 3% this year, which is equivalent to 3bln tons of production annually.
