I'm looking at the pros & cons of personal contract leasing vs outright purchase for my next motor.

I'd be interested in your experiences of this (UK) and especially how the lease companies interpret "fair wear & tear" when the car is returned at lease end.

employed, self employed or director of close company?

List price of car

CO2 emissions of car

Monthly rental

Outright(cash) purchase or finace/hp agreement?

I know one thing for sure, I've never seen contract hire so cheap on quality cars, 299 a month for an 38 grand e class merc..wow..Gotta love those Germans, recession? Just 5hit out as many cars as poss...

Yup! It just occurs to me that shelling out a load of cash for an outright purchase might not be too smart an idea.

Go the site "Honest John" I don't know the actual domain.

He writes every Sat for The Telegraph and he's excellent, I think there's a Forum there and the advice is bound to be good and solid.

Morning's work for you covers the rental..;) Scose is right in as much as it depends on your status, but using the merc for 3 years costs ten grand, the car will depreciate by at least 50% inside 3 years..Now with cp and or owning (depending on how your business is structured) you can write down some of the loss etc., but some of the deals around atm are jaw dropping...a grand down and you're in a 40K merc...

My boss got an E280 for two hundred + vat for 08-10!

I was gonna work it all out for him but the offer has expired now.

Hey, there's a company that I've used called Concept Vehicle Leasing. They offered me a brilliant deal and absolutely stunning customer service. I have been recommending them all my friends and business partners, purely because they go through all your options and will cater to what you want.

I'd say give them a go. Their website is www.conceptvehicleleasing.co.uk Oh and their refer a friend scheme means I get Amazon vouchers for every one I send to them! BONUS!

When you buy a car of course you own it and you can call it your own, but there are certain changes like what if your family becomes bigger, what if there's a new car with new features and also more efficient that what you have? I mean you can never tell when are you going to get a new one and upon selling your own car you won't even get half of what you've paid.

I would say that you should aim for the cheapest deal instead of just going with the first leasing company that you find. One lease comparison websites is www.carleaseplanet.co.uk where you can actually see not only the monthly price but also the effective price, which takes into account any deposit and fees that you pay. So my advise is shop around first!
