Not sure where to put this because T2W does not have a forum for longer term investing!!!!
Anyway - I was alerted to this by a friend who is a financial advisor.
He was approached by a rep of a company called Harwell Capital about a fund for investing in Venture Capital through a company called Midven.
Now - I'm not pointing fingers @ Midven here as they may not be complicit but the total of all commissions paid on funds invested in Midven through Harwell is 35%.
That's right - you put $100k into the fund and $35k goes out immediately in commissions.
As such, there really is zero chance any investor will make a profit out of this. There is a very high chance that every man and his dog will try selling it. I would not be suprised if Midven wasn't even invovled with it.
Anyway - if you get approached about this one - I'd steer well clear.
