Of the major currency pairs, which pair ( if any ) tends to trend more consistently, more often and longer than any other ?

Or are they all much the same ?

Never really looked at or traded currencies before.....but considering it as a new challenge.

The Yen pairs, in my experience, tend to have the best trends. At any given point in time, though, it could be any of them.

i use a lot of different systems on many different pairs, and get my best results with eurusd and eurjpy, my worst results with usdjpy and usdcad. that´s already constant for a few months, haven´t found the reason for that yet. maybe someone has similar experiences?

Does anyone have experience of trading FX throughout the night ( UK time ) ?

If so, what are the best pairs to go for and at what general times ?

Bit of a nightbird me !!

i tried to trade day and night,fx pair or pair fx it is not really a Q , all you need is to trade on the right time in the right pair ,for that i can get a lot of info by looking on the pair of the day by "pairfx" portal

It depends on your strategy. I've been doing well with the EUR/USD and USD/CHF lately.

Hi,

I think that you should keep AUD at least in your chart as it is a good reference for many things.
(Metal and compared to EUR some advantage which one is leading) and AUDJPY has been a historical lead for equity markets. Even suprisingly tight correlation earlier.

for now and the current next weeks, pairs with yen (jpy) been on rallies. it's a fine opportunity for short order. EURJPY, usdjpy. for the moment i put short just minute ago with usdjpy.

It doesnt matter, you make so much more in ranging markets.

But since you asked here a small selection of average range data

edit, mostly i trade EN (and recently GU) because it plays so nice and is a consistantly big mover

Interesting. I always think about the Aussie, but tend to forget about the Kiwi. I'll keep my eye on it from now on. :)

BTW, I've seen elsewhere, the advice being given out (at least for relative newbies), to avoid Euro pairs, on the grounds that the Euro is overly "political" in nature. I'm sure that will be counter-argued by experienced traders, but anyway, supposedly the ECB is about to announce €1Tn of QE, which, just as the US has pulled the plug on QE, might make for some interesting movements.
