Hi,
I have just started out trading and at present use the free Yahoo site to add indicators to my charts.
I would like to know if there is a recommended site that gives:
1.real time updated charts
2.The ability to use MACD with different colours for above and below zero
3. The ability to scroll over the chart and have a vertical line that runs all the way down all selected charts to allow comparison of time events.
I have looked all over and so far cannot find this combination.
Am I asking too much?
I would pay a reasonable monthly fee for this combination of abilities.
If anyone can help I would be grateful.
Regards
Pete

for a beginner, i strongly recommend prorealtime.com
then move on to tradestation when you're a bit more experienced
(but I still regularly use prorealtime, I love 'em)

I use prophet only in that they are the default charts on my options broker, but in comparison to the above 2 recommendations, I hate prophet, it is nowhere as near as flexible or user friendly .....

Hi,

I haven't seen ProRealtime, so just to understand - what does it offer above and beyond say what the "free" MT4 (MetaTrader) does for Forex. MT4 comes free with at least 2 brokers I know.

Thanks

to be honest, i think Meta is pants .... i know I'll get shot down by thousands of happy users.
But imho, prorealtime is much more user-friendly.
try their EOD service as a pilot - it's free !!

(NB: I have no attachment, commercial or otherwise, to this company, nor to tradestation, apart from being a very satisfied customer)

I haven't seen PRT.. but wonder what extra can it be giving?

I mean.. if MT can give me all the zoom/in/out, multiple timeframes, all tech indicators,
graphs etc - what else would one need?

To be honest its ProRealTimes User Friendly Interface vs MetaTraders ability of manipulating charts through externally designed indicators. I love the ability to add indicators designed by other successful users to my charts and due to the new factors of Web 2.0 it is becoming increasingly easy to find these indicators. My favourite place to gather indicators for MT4 has got to be ForexFactory.com. Some of the systems and indicators these guys produce really do provide some significant profits over systems that cost $$$, often though they will ask you to donate when you hit your first million! I'm yet to make any donations. Unfortunately the free version of MT4 only applies to forex and not UK stocks etc.

To get Real-Time charting from ProRealTime simply get a demo account from IG-Markets, it lasts for 14 days. I've got a live account with them and am yet to experience any problems with them. Their PureDeal trading platform is the best I've seen yet, although I'm yet to try CMC's new MarketMaker platform. Anyone used CMC's new platform?

Cheers,
C-GA

I have only seen technical analysis from The Analyst Review, which is a podcast. They feature HPQ, DELL, etc.-- a lot of the biggies. Take a listen if you'd like; the more info the better I guess! Cheers :)
