hey guys ...im doing some spring cleaning on my brokers

anyone using decent ECN brokers ? .......i dont mean offshore scammers with $2 in the bank and a western samoulaia postcode ...i mean solid big firms who dont keep my profits (long story) ....cheers N

There are plenty of good ones: pepperstone, fxview, hotforex, Ig markets, XM. All are regulated and have low minimum deposits.

Opt-in only with UK-regulated entities; FCA; ESMA, CNV, BaFin etc.

My inputs: EBS-Line, UBS, Credit Suisse, HSBC, BarX, Bloomberg, FXAll, Integral, LMAX, and IG.
Note: Always go direct to Tier-1 and non-bank MTFs.

No opinion available.

Finding a true and reliable ECN broker in the UK is a key decision, and the "best" one often depends on a trader's specific priorities, such as trading style, platform preference, and sensitivity to costs (commissions vs. spreads).

First and foremost, for any UK trader, ensuring the broker is regulated by the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) is non-negotiable. This provides the crucial safety net of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

With that in mind, here are some of the most reputable firms that offer true ECN or ECN-like conditions for UK traders, broken down by their general strengths:

The Major, All-Round Players:

  • IG: As a FTSE 250 company with a very long history, their reputation is top-tier. They offer DMA (Direct Market Access) through their L2 Dealer platform, which is their equivalent for traders seeking ECN/STP execution. They are a benchmark for reliability.

  • OANDA: Another long-standing and highly reputable name in the UK. While traditionally known as a market maker, they have evolved to offer accounts with "core pricing" plus commission, which provides an ECN-style trading experience with raw spreads.

The ECN/STP Specialists:

  • Pepperstone: Extremely popular among active traders for their "Razor" account. They are well-regarded for very tight spreads, fast execution speeds, and offering both MT5 and cTrader platforms, the latter being a favorite for many ECN traders.

  • IC Markets: Similar to Pepperstone, IC Markets is another top choice globally for algorithmic traders and scalpers. They are known for their low-latency environment and deep liquidity, which are critical for ECN trading.

For Professionals / High-Volume Traders:

  • Interactive Brokers (IBKR): If your trading volume is significant, their pricing structure is arguably the best in the business. Their platform, Trader Workstation (TWS), has a steep learning curve but offers incredibly powerful tools and direct market access for serious traders.

My advice would be to look into the specific account types for these brokers (e.g., Pepperstone's Razor vs. IC's Raw Spread), compare their commission structures, and check the typical spreads for the currency pairs you trade most often.
