Anyone have any experience of the best way to go long U.S treasuries via IG Markets/index ?

Buy the bond futures (long bond or ultra)... It's the simplest.

Well, it's horse for courses, innit? Not really better or worse, just different. It's up to you whether you want to trade an ETF which tracks an bond index or a simple bond futures contract. Would depend on what sort of bid/offer you get, etc.
