please excuse my ignorance for the following question,ive been demo trading the ES emini,mainly using a 5 minute chart,i have some ideas that i want to backtest,but i dont have a clue where to start or where to go to backtest,any help is appreciated,thanks

depends what you are trying to backtest in all honesty
If its indicator driven, loads of software can do that very easily...even free software
IG/Pro real time has a backtesting feature. Then there's Metastock, updata, sharescope, esignal etc etc

For backtesting the best charting program is Tradestation.
It's not cheap though.

There is some software in the internet to make a run of indicators but the most suitable for me is demo trading platform where you can run up a battery of tests with clear practical results.
