After-Hours Trading volatility

Hi,
Many stock are traded after hours. What I have noticed they usually goes up and then come down back to almost the same price. Or other way around; go short and bak up again. Of course we all know that mostly big institutions and players with big pockets usually playing this.
My question is what is the reason for those players to for instance pump up price and then drop it again before session is open? What is strategy behind that?

lol the strategy behind any big players move is to MAKE MONEY. This is the very reason that I don't take afterhours into consideration much, if at all; too much BS floating around during that time.
