How many arcades have gone bust?

Yes, they are still up and running, though have a few less traders than a couple of months ago. Are you interested in them?

FAQ What are the pros & cons of Spreadbetting versus CFDs

Guess the discrepancy comes from the fact that the spreadbet is a derivative whereas the CFD is the true underlying. With enough size, the spreadbet could get heavily sold whilst there were buyers in the underlying, though why anyone would do this I have no idea.

FAQ What are the pros & cons of Spreadbetting versus CFDs

Thanks again for the advice. As I only had a small initial deposit, I opted for spreadbetting over CFD's. I chose CMC as they run loads of seminars plus offered a bonus after 2 trades. Just getting used to the spread instead of having Direct Market Access, but it takes a while. Finding the...

FAQ What are the pros & cons of Spreadbetting versus CFDs

Lion63 - Thanks very much for that, kind of re-enforced what I thought. Raysor - what do you mean by restrictions on opening trades? I've not used an sb firm before, so didn't realise they could restrict your trading. Anyone got any firms they can recommend?

FAQ What are the pros & cons of Spreadbetting versus CFDs

Greetings all, Been a while since I posted on here, but if someone could help point me in the right direction regarding spread-betting versus CFD trading I'd be very grateful. I traded for ten years at one of the Prop firms until last summer when they decided to close down the prop side and go...

    Saxon FInancials Interview

Saxon London is no longer running the same business model - now running a Quant fund. Saxon Dublin is a separate franchise and is doing the same thing it's been doing for years.

How many arcades have gone bust?

I work for a company that shares office space with Sigma. They did have a few issues with funding a couple of weeks ago, but that has all been sorted out now and they are up and running again. Saxon have changed their model and are no longer an arcade - more of a hedge fund. Don't know about...

    Overtrading!!

Put your mouse in a drawer or something - that way you have to actually retrieve it, rather than just hover over it the whole time. Or, set an alarm to go off every 20 mins or so, then stop trading for 10. Personally, when I had the same problem, I started writing out my trades in detail...

    Bad trading day

Very true. Had some sports therapist work with me on various things (for sports and trading) and concentration is enhanced by many factors such as daylight (important vitamins), exercise (blood flow, detachment then re-engagement) and diet. Certain things like nuts and pulses are supposedly...

    The "1 PIP" Challenge

Context. Doesn't make sense in FX markets, but fixed income? It's possible to trade a fair amount of size in, for example, the Bund and at 10 Euro's a tick, it's possible to make a decent living. If you bought 1,000 lots and made a tick you'd be fairly pleased with life. I think the point of...

    Quick Question

Bloody partial fills - get the smallest portion for hardly any reward, then get steamrollered for the blance! Think what I was trying to say (but not sure if it's what you were asking) is that if you wanted to be short on a stop limit from 83 and ONLY 83, you could set up a sell stop with...

    Quick Question

In a real market, you can specify the maximum number of ticks over which you want your order to be filled and can specify whether to simply leave any remainder on the offer or just execute against what's there and then cancel the balance. Quite useful for illiquid markets. If you were trying...

    Making Money Trading

Just a suggestion, and something I am playing around with at the moment, is to scale out of positions. I tend to look if there is an area around 1xRisk, preferably just beyond, and take maybe a third or a quater of the trade off whilst moving the stop for the remainder to b/e. Then I look for...
