Gaps - how do they occur?

Mr Bramble, I've watched equities on Teletext in the window of a tv rental shop, guessed at the premiums, backed out the iv's in my head, then rushed to the nearest public telephone kiosk and make a reverse call to the broker who didn't speak English. Grant.

Gaps - how do they occur?

Here are some gaps for the bund to consider - 7.12.88 - closed at 96.94, filled at 5.8.93 (I'm not sure about this one as I'm using Eurex data and the bund was traded on LIFFE during this period). 25.6.03 - closed 118.26, filled at 25.11.04 7.3.06 - closed at 119.25, still waiting to be...

    Latency and Broadband

Max, Close your eyes when you're trading US. Upgrade my internet - you mean from 8mb? But I thought the limiting factor was physical telecoms line, ie upgrading will not make any difference. I'm sure we could meet for a pint next time I'm in London. "Simple"? For whom? Sorry, a bit formal...

    Latency and Broadband

Max, I can run my seperate chart feed, Excel with dde's and CQG - and order execution is so quick, I cannot time it. This via 8mb broadband. CPU load factor (if that's the correct term) never exceeds 10%. So why does it take a long time to load T2W? Grant.

Gaps - how do they occur?

NT, I'm running Teletext through an Amstrad (2 x floppy drives, 128k memory) with a US Robotics 56k modem. I can't see any latency problems. Bloomberg? I've sh*t it. What's an acoustic coupler? Grant.

    Users of TT's X-Trader & X-Study

Max, I'm using the basic CQG Trader order entry (ex-charts, etc) and my cheap feed for charts (maybe lags by a tick or two at times). For me, the extra cost of CQG's or TT's charting modules can't be justified, ie they will not add to, nor improve on, my current set-up. Similarly, the freedom...

Gaps - how do they occur?

Shortorlong, Where a future tardes after the cash market closes, this may also be a factor, otherwise there would be potential arbitrage/market panics the next morning. Re gaps, one occured (a gap-up)on the bund or bobl and took around three years to fill. Grant.

    Vrothdar's Journal

Vrothdar, Statistically, even an 80% win-rate needs be treated with caution (as LTCM discovered). Out of a hundred trades, the statistic would still be valid if the first twenty were all losers. But then it may be too late. I suppose the solution is very tight stops to preserve capital for the...

Martin, If you have £30k, why are you trading on with a third-rate system run by second-rate cowboys? You should go direct. Grant.
