    Dow 2008

What would you make of price action that spent most of the day grinding higher followed by sharp drops before the close. We've had 3 days in the last 4 a bit like that and I'm wondering about its significance. Does it shake out buyers or shorters? And thus is it consolidation before an up-leg or...

    Dow 2007

I was short yesterday from 13660 odd, and just a tad miffed that I didn't take a tidy profit. These rejected spikes lower must be devastating for any bear who's short from lower down. But never mind that, it's going down from here methinks :^)

It comes down to whether you believe a British autopsy expert versus a Jamaican one who is now in disgrace. I know who I'd put my money on. They thought he'd been strangled because of a broken bone in his neck, but this could happen as he fell or as the body was being moved. Secondly, the body...

    Currency Trading May 7 - 11

Congratulations on your system and thanks for sharing it. I'm not trading myself at the moment, but keeping my eye on EUR/JPY. I think it's a holiday in Japan this week, so overnight ranges are likely to be smaller and thus less profitable.

    Sell USDCAD

You're probably right, but I am thinking of doing the exact opposite and buying usd/cad next week, probably with quite a tight stop. I held off this week because of Nigerian elections at the weekend which could affect oil prices.

    Trading the SPX

I love your predictions Bez :^). The expanded flat or triangle idea makes a lot of sense to me. And it all begins on Thursday with the DOW having reached 13150 would be my target. So in the super long term you reckon this might be a wave 4 and we actually head higher through the summer and...

    Trading the SPX

Debbie, excuse my ignorance, but are the numbers 1.83, 1.87 etc. ratios of price moves. And are these significant numbers? And what does the D signify - A is up, B is correction, and C is up again but Ds seem to mark possible tops. Bez, The ballistic breakout in the semiconductors today makes...

I don't really know because I don't have volume data, but high volume in the last hour could just be profit taking at the end of the day so I'm nor sure if it's that surprising.

Check out the semiconductors today - the $sox having gone nowhere for days and days has just ballooned today for no apparent reason! But the nasdaq is down - very confusing...

    E/y Opportunity..

I'm out of this now...might get back in short some time tomorrow, but who knows! The markets are tempting me short as well and the two are correlated.

    FX-2007: Apr 08nd > Apr 13th

Does anyone here use implied volatilities for the forex markets to determine likelihood of ranging or breaking out, I'd love to know how useful they are... and where online is a good place to find implied volatility charts?

    E/y Opportunity..

We're still below '98 prices! My very subjective analysis of the chart which I've just done tells me that we might be going up into Tuesday before the substantial fall that I was looking for. So I could get out on a retracement and wait for that, but I'm not sure I trust it that much. :D

    E/y Opportunity..

My sentiment at the moment is JPY > CAD > USD > EUR,GBP,AUD. But you're right this thing could go up to 162 odd and stop me out unless I move my stop further away and I'm probably in a bit too heavy given the rubbish price....but I do think we are going down in the long term actually a lot...

    E/y Opportunity..

Ok, I got in way too early but still holding short...my ideal exit would have been Tuesday early morning waiting for a better price and I might well have got out then if I'd been up at 3am, but I wasn't. I would SO much rather be short from present prices, but that's life!

That cable chart:come and have a go if you think your hard enough...

The idea of deconstructing a chart and sharing ideas on why price behaved as it did makes for a great and informative thread from which the relatively inexperienced like myself can learn. Much appreciated, mr. marcus! :^)
