Why such a quick run on the FTSE100?

Can anyone hazard a guess as to why this current bull market has gone up so quickly? Only just over 2 years in and the FTSE is up 60% from the low whereas in the previous bull market it was only up 40% at this stage.

Is there a fundamental reason for this as the economy really doesn't seem that positive at the moment!

FTSE 100 is heavily weighted towards commodities

Quantitative easing = cheap dollar = commod rally = FTSE rally

Good response from wallie.

Short-term, US markets seem unable to sustain selling. Is this Fed POMO buying in operation every time the Dow drops a per cent, or is it 'real' market buying pressure making use of cheap money?
