Worry not C V - you'll be fine, I'm sure. If you do encounter any problems, PM me and we'll organise a freebie chat with Pam. (Don't want to flout T2W rules by promoting my wife's planning services!) Naturally, I'm a bit biased but, even so, she's VERY good!

Jesus, Trendie, you make this place seem like a mad house! I've just come home from a wander down the Ramblas, carrying a bag of Brooke Bond PG Tips! You should have told me earlier, look at the risk you've made me run!

Hi Split,
Thanks for the tip in your other post. The link below is to Andalucia.com and a sister thread to this one in many ways. Bye the bye, it's a great site for anyone interested in things Spanish although, as its name suggests, it's aimed at the south.

Had a quick look at your link. Yeah, them Southerners are a rough lot-- is that where you're going  The Catalans are a race apart, of course.

By the way, I've lived here 42 years and haven't seen anything dead, outside a butcher's shop, in all that time, except for one or two dead rats ("big'uns, the cats don't want to know!), But that was in the early days, before we joined the Common Market.

Still, Spain's been good to me and the people are the salt of the earth.

What with your football club and my beer, I think millsi500 (can't we call you something shorter, by the way?) is trying to show that he comes from some other part of the UK. Where does John Smith come from, anyway?

wouldn't have a clue where J smiths is from probably all over the shop now!

I come from the other side of Blades hill. The red side :devilish:

Hey up C.V.

Looks like the outside privy might be safe after all.

Hi Split,
Yeah, the south probably, although we're not sure exactly where yet. It depends on where Pam can get teaching work. If necessary, we'll go to Madrid. You only have to be able to grunt in English to get a job there. Much harder to find work in Seville and next to impossible to find any at all in Malaga which is, surprise surprise, our first choice.

You've had it easy up in Barca for too long. A truly great city, I have to say. But Malaga is underestimated and much overlooked. A hidden gem. Hidden because millions of people fly in and out of its airport, but relatively few of them bother explore the city itself. They're missing a treat. But that's set to change and once the port is redeveloped, Malaga could give Barca a run for its money.

Do you speak Catalan or Castilian? Please don't tell me you speak both, I'll never 'talk' to you again!
;)

I am better with Castillano, but I understand more Catalan than people think, so they all talk to me in the former. .

Good luck, wherever you go.

Hi Split,
The scan facility on your new machine appears to work just fine. So, I can read it, but the translation button appears to be faulty. ;)

Pam and I have an agreement: she learns Spanish and I sort out an income for us both - i.e. trading. I'll print out the article for her which will be a good test of her progress - thank you! She has an intellectual understanding of the language in as much as she knows all 14 Spanish tenses and when they should be used. However, stick her in the middle of an Andalucian bar and she struggles to recognise the language being spoken all around her! Sadly, her classroom prowess hasn't - as yet - transfered to the real world. A bit like me and trading really, so I shouldn't criticise!

We are living more and more in a 1984 Britain where government and control and constant surveillance have crept up on us in the 10 years of Socialism by Stealth.
With the Stalinist Brown soon to be appointed Our Revered and Great Leader, it can only get worse.
And as for our one day of democracy every five years, the Tories are not offering a real alternative philosophy of government. As for the Liberal Democrats, they are just as bad.
Alternatives:
Stalinist Brown
New Skin Tory Twit Cameron
Coffin Escapee Ming Campbell
Emigration
Suicide

OK I'm off out into the sunshine of the garden and my blossoming trees to drink cappuccino and read the Daily ToryGraph before they get banned.

It looks as if someone who knows agrees about Stalinist Brown..........

Gordon Brown has exhibited a ’Stalinist ruthlessness’ in government, belittling his cabinet colleagues whom the Treasury treats with ’more or less complete contempt’, according to the man who was Britain’s top civil servant until 2005.

Financial Times

I fully appreciate your concerns Richard about Brother Brown but who the hell else is there ?

Putin would be less suffocating........
They are all a bunch of tree hugging lying toads with less integrity than a magpie on speed.

What have you got against magpies Richard?
I think it's a bit harsh to tar the bird with the same brush in this cavalier manner....

;-)
We've got lots in our garden and the way they steal food from other birds reminds me of Brown - also the way they twitch their jaws.......
Is he as err......well loved....in Scotland as he is down here?
Scotland has blessed England and the world with many exports over the years, but do you think you could take this one back, p-l-e-a-s-e?
Otherwise soon it's going to be, "come back Blair......all is forgiven".
Richard

Hmm mind you if Britain did stop, doing the Hero to Zero bit, then it would be perhaps more odd in character. :)

Perhaps this is a cunning plan by the scots to steal all the money from England and send it back up North?

"Perhaps this is a cunning plan by the scots to steal all the money from England and send it back up North?"

Brown the Barbarian Avenger of Culloden has been doing that for 10 years !!!
Revenue raised in Scotland is 30% less than that spent by central and local govt in Scotland. No wonder their health, social and education benefits are superior to those in the rest of the UK.

In the last general election more votes were cast in England for the Tories than for Labour, but the system is biased pro-Labour. I'm not saying that was deliberate, but it has not been rectified by Labour - unsurprisingly.

Send for Mrs Pritchard pronto.

Anything is better than Vladimir Brown, Minge Campbell or that Cameron thing.

Let’s hope the Scots find the courage to vote SNP in May and take Scotland to full independence, and cede from the Union. With luck we’ll finally be rid of NuLabour and the scourge socialism in this country for once and for all.

It would finally provide an answer to the West Lothian question , something that's well overdue IMO, having waited for nearly thirty years.

Hopefully, you'll be indulging in a bit of Agitprop on behalf of the SNP in your spare time Dave? :)

HTH

Cheers
