Does anyone know how to get into this field?

How does it even work? Do you apply for a individual license/ticket/pass? Or do you get the job through an institution or firm? I have looked at all the major IB's and they don't have any information or links to 'apply now'....

Would really appreciate it if anyone could give a heads up or direct me to where i could find some career/employment style info

Regards

L

Well I suppose you're only about 10, 20 years late for floor trading.

;)

You're right that some few exchanges still have floors, but the question is for how much longer...

The trend has been pretty clear that exchanges are going digital.

Maybe you might want to have a look here instead:

Trading Arcade Index - Traderpedia

Go on the exchange website, CME for example
Then choose whether you want toseat or buy a seat, then go from there, just ring the exchange and ask if you are confused.
You will need to have your own $$$,$$$ if you are serious about it though.

Hi,

You really DO NOT want to get into floor trading...I am not knocking floor traders, it requires a skill set and on your feet thinking that I would never be able to do. The problem is that everything is going electronic and floor trading is being replaced by electronic markets. Within 5-10 years even the largest pits in Chicago will be empty.

Focus on getting a "upstairs" position.
