On the "other" Fib-Trader thread, you actually answered this question for me !!

The 50% comes from the 1/2 ( 0,1,1,2,3 )

I'm not sure I've posted that??? Quote me if I'm wrong buy all means.

The fib series I use..

A Series: 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,55,89,144 ect...
B Series.. 1,3,4,7,11,18,29,47,76,123,199 ect...
C series..1,5,6,11,17,28,45,73,118,191 ect. .
D series..0.090, 0.1458, 0.236,0.3819,0.618,1,1.618,2.618,4.236 ect...

Lucas..(increasing each successive by phi0
1, 1.618,2.618,4.236,6.854,11.09,17.95, ect...

It was JungleJim who showed that 50% was a valid Fib-retracement on the other board.

I personally wouldn't use the half of the 3rd & 4th terms (in series A) to say 50 % is a fib ratio.

The 50% is always valid ratio point to watch, its just not really part of the fib series in the correct sense imho. It's seems these days the popular ratio's just get bracketed under the umbrella of fibs....

Sorry Victor for going off track , you wanted basic methods.... :eek:

The best guy on Fib is Joe DiNapoli.

Keep it simple and take special note of 'confluence'. Do a google for his website and buy his book as well, it's worth it. See also what people are saying about the book on the Amazon reviews but watch out for the reviews that are just too good because they're just laughable. For example check out the obvious 'plant' review on Vince Stanzione's book on Amazon.co.uk - 'This is the best book I've ever read in my entire life, and before I read it I was poor and now I've very rich and married to a supermodel etc etc.
