Boiler Room Scams

Tidiot

If they're contacting you again then 100% they're trying to scam you again.

Chances are they want you to invest more in order to make a profit on your original investment. Pay that money, or any other cash, and it WILL be stolen from you again. As sure as the Sun rises in the East.

Please learn your lesson, don't get involved in things you don't understand promoted by 'broker's' you don't properly research.

Where's BigBrains?

You want to fill us in on how the 'talks' with the investment bankers are going?

Re: Tricontinental Capital Corp

Hello everyone, I'm new here and I hope everyone is well.

My farther in law has invested through a company called Tricontinental Capital Corp and I'm almost sure they are a boiler operation. They have an office in Canada and incorporated in Panama (Alarm Bells), their head guy is Phil Westlake/s. Dad has bought into a company as an PIPO called Northwind Ethanol (Formally Nordland). I have done a bit of research on Northwind and through independant media reports of them I have concluded that they are to some degree Legit.

This Tricontinental capital corp is very hard to do research on as they is very little about them on the net apart from a very ominus entry of the company on the FSA list of unauthorised overseas companies operating in the UK. This is very bad news, but this is all I can find on them and they have been going for 6 years this Phil claims.

The concerning thing is that my farther in law is concidering investing through them again in another pipo company called Pan Gen Global (Ethanol from rice hulls), which again has some positive independant media coverage. The thing is he has had a reltionship with tricontinental for over a year but has had no ROI in that time.

If you do a search for tricontinental Capital Corp on the net there is a legit company with vertually the same name and same business, except they don't have the word "capital" in the title, so anyone carrying out any due diligence could find this company and be convinced of "Capitals" credentials. This is very clever I think if they have meant this.

Anyone know anything of "Tricontinental Capital Corp" or either of the two companies they have peddled to my father in law?

Sorry the post is so long!:)

Hello,

I know Tricontinental Capital Corp to, I bought also the PGG shares from Philip Westlake.
How is your father in law doing now with the PGG shares?

If you bought these shares then you have lost your money, this is a boiler room scam from 2008.

But they are still active. Is there anything I still can do about it?

Have you reported it to the FSA and Operation Archway? Otherwise there is nothing you can do and if someone cold calls you saying they can cash them in or sell them then set the phone down. They will be the same crooks that stole your money first time round.

Today I did report it to Operation Archway.
Does anybody know a canadian organisation like FSA or operation archway. Tri Continental Capital Corporation is based in Canada.

Actually you posted on 2 Dec 09 that you had been caught out by Thomas Moore Global, I dont understand why you are asking again, are you hoping that somebody is going to say they are OK and are not scammers? I dont get it.

The police in London, "Operation Archway"'' have asked if I knew of other investors who have been taken advantage of by Thomas Moore Global that they could speak to.

Being cruel to be kind here so don't take it personally.

How can you ask 'how's he doing with the shares'? Because that roughly translates into 'I don't fully realise that I've been scammed by a load of low-life thieves'.

Sadly you have. Sadly the shares you bought are worthless and sadly for you the scammers are going to come back and back at you to try to steal more money as you are known (in the trade) as a 'mark'.

So please, realise what's happened, realise any share certificate you've been sent is worth less than loo paper and above all realise that ANYONE AND EVERYONE that calls you in the future about investments is a scammer related to the original thief that first called.

Like I said I'm being cruel to be kind here but then I can guarantee I'm not going to steal your cash. But the ones that were nice to you, and so charming, well they did steal your cash.........

1) He lived in Hong Kong where his bank accounts were, so was correctly charged in Hong Kong. The only British connections were his passport and the victims' residence

2) He wasn't working in the UK. The FSA had no jurisdiction.

3) Search his name in Google, and you find the company name, along with the fact that he didn't live in Britain.

Thank you ns1000- belatedly :
Appreciate your response . However I wonder how you identify the VICTIMS residence ?
There were very many victims targeted by pseudo licenced operators in UK , Ireland and Germany using 'boiler room' tactics who passed the funds to that outfit in HK
so it is contended that the culprit should have been prosecuted and convicted also in those jurisdictions. The silence of those Financial Regulators is deafening !

Tri Continental Capital Corporation : Thomas Moore Global : PGG : Philip Westlake
totalidiot......your post 21/4/2010
It seems that the number viewing T2W is a very small proportion of victims so it would be advisable to seek other victims on The Motley Fool and Scam.com or other websites who specialise in bringing victims together. I sympathise with you in trying to locate other victims of the scam. It will take time ifyou persevere .

Good thread, Airthrey.

You might want to add Jefferson Holt Consulting to the above list.

Also, to let these con-men know that we are wise to their scams, we should perhaps ask pertinent questions, such as:

Are you regulated by the FSA ? ( if so, whats your reg-number )
Are the shares you are selling me restricted in any way ? ( eg; Reg-144 (I think) )
Can I sell these shares at anytime (through another broker) ?
Are you based in the UK ?

Any others?

MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS REGULATROY COMMISSION TOKYO JAPAN.

Afraid I do not follow this - I cannot find an Airthrey or Trendie post on this thread !
But Washington Roberts Management and Mergers & Acquitions regulatory commission Tokyo, Japan have all the signs of a Secondry Scam - just steer clear.

Hi, new to the foumbut I read with interest.

I recently filled in a internet site questionairre and was contacted by the broker.
He gave me knowledge of a penny share company (legit company) and said the shares will rise steadily for 3 months and should make 30% profit.
I was intrigued obviously. Did my homework (as much as possible anyway) the company offering the advise was on the FSA list, they had been in business for 6 years.
I decided to take a gamble and buy some of these shares, sending a swift transfer to a Hong Kong bank.
The shares are rising gradually as reported and are making a nice profit.
The company now contact me regularly to invest more in other shares, some of which have made a very healthy profit, I have explained I would like to see my money returned (with profit) before doing any other business. They have now stopped calling.
I have a number tocontact these guys and always seem to get through but I am now very worried after reading this forum.

The company selling the shares are called Mitschka advisory and are based in Vienna with a office in London apparently.
Has anyone dealt with these or could give me advise of what happens when I tell them to sell?

Regards

Vivacook-
may be a bit late to reply to your post in October 2009. I also was sold shares by what turned out to be a shady bunch in Frankfurt. They requested me to send the money
to lawyer a 'safe escrow' with numerous addresses in Germany. It transpired that
she channelled it to Hong Kong - FPI - the 'signatory' for that outfit is in jail for laundering circa $60m ! ! Would be interested to know the Bank your pseudo 'broker'
scammer used in Hong Kong ?

Here's a failsafe rule for you all to use -

Never send money to pay for investments to a bank that's NOT located here in the UK. Also, make sure the company name matches the bank account. For example, if you buy shares through the ABC Investment Firm only pay money to an account headed 'Abc Investment firm' (here in the UK) and not 'XYZ Productions' in Hong Kong.

Yes, you'll be told all sorts of reasons (lies) why the money needs to be paid offshore and why the name on the account does not match the 'broker' but you're dealing with crooks who only want to steal your cash.

Just common sense really but if anyone thinks it's not then why are you getting involved in things you don't understand.....

Or better still don't buy anything from cold callers.
