As expected! But no, it wasnt a trailing stop. Too choppy for that. It was a fixed stop - I fixed it at a level that I was happy to part with, more than happy with banking a 60 point move. So now I watch for the next entry... but after the crude report I think!

whats the assessment of gold direction for today, guys? Im currently long and $10 up... but I dont want to close out a winning trade too early and equally I dont want to let it slip back to my s/l at market entry. Is the best strategy to close out the position now, realising the profit, and then...

good luck with that, hope it works out for you :) I caught the S&P futures escalator up yesterday from 689.9 and then decided to hedge it overnight with a long position in gold futures at 894. Fully expected one of them to have closed out overnight, and the other to have continued on upwards...

hey Chris, interesting stuff! Thanks for the link, I will check the forecasts against the results this week. The figures seem a little out for the big market moves (eg forecasting longs the day before the market moves down considerably) but I guess thats only to be expected. Do you trade...

for what its worth, I use GFT - they offer 1 point spread on rolling FTSE
