It was quite funny. I placed a short in the Euro late afternoon with a 75 pips profit target. Went to grab a coffee and 5 min later came back and was amazed to see my trade closed on target. Nice way to end the day :)

10:1 is the average leverage used by most retail traders at large forex brokers such as fxcm, oanda, etc. If you're a swing trader, then its probably too much leverage anyway. If you day trade and use tighter stops then you can afford it. Offering 400:1, 200:1 and even 100:1 is a non-sense...

my vote goes to OANDA, reliable execution, good spreads, but bad platform. I use MT4 for analysis and oanda for execution only.

the euro seemed to have established a strong base at 1.4820, I hope you got in since its way up today. I think its going to form a symmetrical triangle in the next few days, I might try to go long if it comes back near 1.4900

At the end i think it all comes down to risk percentage. But Trading also serves a more meaningful purpose than gambling. Trading is at the heart of the economy and is recognized as being essential, I don't think we can say that about gambling.

It won't be the same for all people, anb I think that the answer to that question is going to change over time. Its not the same thing with the introduction of mini and micro accounts. I think future successful traders will loose way less money at start than before, which is a good thing. But...
