Hi all, after a hiatus from the trading game for about 12 months im looking to get back into the game.

I wanted to document my progress to give me better structure in my trading..if this thread helps you too then great!

Looking to start off small, ie small lots / small trades / low startup costs and try to grow organically. Too much overhead at the start puts too much pressure on!

Comments and thoughts welcome =)

Good luck. What you trading?

Thanks for the comments guys!, im going to start of pretty basic trading (ES / Spooze = e-miniS&P500 futures) -

Just whatever I deem to be a supprt level by assessing the chart, not using any involved indicators..ie if 1145.5 was resistance and breaks thru, then when it comes back will be support.

Would love to get access to market profile without paying for CQG - does anyone know about this?

Will be using DMA through a futures broker..

As far as internet connection goes, not the best setup but trying to keep costs down. Wireless connection. It feels a little safer to know that by using set profit / stop levels, that when my entry gets hit...it will produce these orders straight away. This info is stored on the server apparently, so even if my net goes down, I will be protected by this.

If this doesnt sound right - pls let me know now!=)

Would love to hear other people's experiences with using futures brokers, as opposed to hiring a seat at a trading shop - wish i discovered this route a little earlier!

Are you just buying on support levels? Watch out for false break outs if you're trading through resistence or get out quick.

nice tight stops - 0.75 tick

no, both buying on support and selling on resistance with big bias for with trend

post your entries and exits IN TIME and pleaze ...

stop this kind of talk, talk, talk

how about instead of that, I post whatever I want - as this is my thread...

Im not out to prove anything to you or anyone else

As my blog reads, this is mainly out there to give me structure - and if it helps others great

I'm with Global Futures but other brokers have similar deals, margin is $300 to $500 depending on what you are trading, commissions around $2 to $3 per round trip (depending on your trading volume). With broadband being what is is nowadays in the UK connectivity hasnt been an issue so with overall costs being around the $100 a month mark its hard to see what I'd get for my money hiring a desk.

Practice trading:

Buy support

Buy 1138 3 lot, 0.75 tick stop)
Sell 2 lot 1138.5 +1
Sell 1 Lot -.75

P&L = +0.25

Practice trading

Daily trend, up - plus prior day daily hangman - preference equals buy on support

Buy 3 lot 1077.25 - 1 tick stop

Sell 1 lot +0.5
Sell 1 lot +1
Sell 1 lot +2

Profit = 3.5 ticks

yes exactly - 1 point, ie 4 ticks
Ho oz',
I think that's what confused tar (and me). For clarity going forward, may I suggest you stick to using either 'points', i.e. 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00 and 1.25 etc. or 'ticks', i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 etc. So, where you say you have a "1 tick stop", presumably you mean you have a 1.00 point stop, i.e. 4 ticks?
;)
Tim.
