I have been trying to obtain more information on basic Fibonacci analysis techniques as this is a style that has intrigued me immensely. Do anybody know of a source I can contact?

there is no such thing as basic fibonacci technicques

fibonacci formulas are i suspect easy to find on the net

a lot of so called traders will demonstrate how easy fibs are to use in hindsight - but a whole different ball game trading with them - trading off fib levels requries the same trading skill as utilising any other techniques in the markets and thats a lot of skill!

Yes; I think you can contact Financial Trading Seminars Inc. They maintain a list of recommended resources for computerised traders - software packages at all price levels, data services and so on. The list is updated a few times a year and offered free to traders as a public service. Their email address is [email protected] . They may be able to offer you resource advice, if nothing else.

Information on basic Fibonacci analysis may also be available free online at www.incrediblecharts.com .

I somewhat disagree with that , I think most people seem to have trouble identifying the correct "degree" in to use the fib ratio's.

Just my thoughts..

Hi victor,

There is a board called Fibonacci Trader board, although we meander between Fibonacci, Gann and other things !!

There is a thread here on "Sandy Jadeja", a course-provider using Fibonacci-based trading method.

I have recently posted a book-review on "The New Fibonacci-Trader" by Robert Fischer.

Google will provide many basics on getting Fib-levels.
But, it is a truly fascinating subject, and if you allow it, you start reading about pyramids, nature, shells, etc !!

All good fun !!

Victor : they are just giving you their favourite chinese dish numbers lol

TheBramble

so you are telling me that the other 38.2% speak babble as well!

 & its 13th post on this thread... :)))

The "degree" is a ref to some elliott waffle, to identify correct placing of fibs in relation to wave structure.

i get that - but not why you said you disagreed with me and then mentioned the degree thing

there is no 'basic' fibonacci analyis - all fib analysis stands as equal - some might be more simpler to get - but all is equally difficult/easy when in comes to trading off it succesfully

Maybe I miss read the meaning in your first post.

In my methods their is a definite key basic method of using fibs, which then develops into more complex forms of ratio analysis..

I agree with you on the skill part though... ;)

ok - there maybe more simple 'basic' fib technicals to use in hindsight - such as the 50% retracement verses using fibs for cyclical time frame analysis -but trading off the easiest or hardest of them is a whole different ball game - requiring the same skill level

A good place to start will be www.forexsupport.net They have a training package explaining basic Fib retracements as well as a dummy system utilizing this technique. I have also subscribed to their forum where they have a range of traders that are using more advanced techniques as well.

Careful steve..you'll be confusing the newbies with a reference to Arithmetic ratio's (a favourite of Gann's).

CJ

50% is both a fib and a gann number - but lets face it - half full or half empty is not that hard

funnily enough, the Gann stuff places emphasis around 3/8, 4/8/ and 5/8.

This is 37.5%, 50% and 62.5%.

And Fib-ratios are: 38.2%, 50% and 61.8%.

How spookily similar !!

:) ;)

I must be missing something here.. but how do you guys get 50% in a fibonacci series, which is generated by Phi.... ???
A part from the simple arithmetic I use the 50% as a haromic ratio.

Harmoic ratio's generated from diagonal relationships found with in the square, which relate to the number 2 and its root of 1.414. The contracting harmonic series is as follows..

1.0 , 0.707 , . 0.500 , 0.354, 0.25 , 0.177
