Can one spread bet or trade the FTSE AIM and FTSE Small Cap?

I am trying to find a way of spread betting on the FTSE AIM and FTSE Small Cap indices nearest quarter.

IG and Finspreads with whom I bet at the moment on the main indices will not offer spreads on FTSE AIM and Small Cap and neither will a number of other firms I have approached.

Does your firm offer bets on these indices?

If no spread betting firms offer spreads, what are the alternatives? Can one buy futures contracts? Where and how would one do that?

Many thanks for any pointers.

Kind regards,

Kenneth

Re: FTSE AIM and FTSE Small Cap indices.

The short answer is "no". d4f used to offer the Small Cap, albeit with a huge spread and massive skew, but that was years ago. The SB firms seem to hide behind the excuse of not being able easily to hedge their position since there is no direct, underlying futures contract available. I think it is a great pity. They could surely "manufacture" a synthetic "futures contract". Perhaps one of the SB firms could rise to the challenge.

even if you could spread bet them, the margin rate would prob be extremely high, so unless you want to short them you would probably be better off actually buying the shares unless you wanted to short them.

Don't know who wants to short though
