A friend of mine asked me this question today... and as I value T2W somehow (he doubt the usefulness of this forum, and directed me to Traders Laboratory instead), would anyone help me to give him an answer?

regards
truly always yours :|

nope, every single person on this forum loses money. even the professional traders.

I do take the tube into liverpool street every day, but only so I can hang around in the tunnels and steal food that falls from the trains

although the mice taste good too

T2W is a mini job all on its own in as much as you have to work at it to get anything of real trading substance and value from it. If your friend questions the usefulness of the forum, I suggest that he hasn't spent long enough digging beneath the surface dross to the uncover the gems that lie below. Because of the size of the site, said gems aren't always easy to find - but they are there. TL isn't afflicted by this problem, simply because it's not as large. If there was a shred of evidence to suggest that TL accelerates a newbies learning curve faster than T2W - or that more traders become profitable faster there than they do here, then T2W would become a ghost town in nanoseconds. It ain't happened! As for profitable traders participating in the forum, sure, why not? I suspect that many of them are lurkers that come here (and TL and Elite etc.) for a laugh when they're bored, but certainly a few of them contribute. I believe one them has even done so on this thread. (You do make a bob or two trading don't you Arabian, in between scavenging and mice hunting? ;) )
Tim.

But are we not already doing that?
As to whether we will paticipate in the nitty gritty of each trade. Who knows?

And then the paticipants are they profitable. Who knows?

Well using your logic... if you're here then I take it you're not profitable which means that you don't know how busy a profitable trader is or if s/he has enough time to spend on forums.

well thats my first post so I ve just stumbled upon this thread as I wanted to know what other people think about this trading forum culture. So I was interested to find the answer as well.

We willl never know the truth... but i suspect that exactly.

You don't have to be a slave to computer 24/5 to be a profitable trader.

Infact if you are a good trader you will have a lot of free time on your hands.

Exactly. A truly profitable and clever trader will surely lower his time spent at a screen, and more time spending his money and just enjoying life. Unless of course, said trader loves trading more than life... in which case there is no hope!

Very true,
You will probably only find scalpers spending loads of time trading until they blow their accounts

I only trade 2.30pm-3.30pm scalping tick-charts and time/sales on the ES... I find if i do anymore then all i do is give secured profits back through impatience and when i make money i lose any 'fear' and become extremely unselective and give it all back! I actually love scalping, i find it very fun and addictive... Alot of people probably think thats a bad thing but personally i don't find that, it just makes me more concentrated and able to interpret the data on my screen correctly. That said, it took me along time to not allow my emotions and excitement to control my trading.

If you have great automated software ,the software will execute trades automatically for you,you will also have virtually no time infront of a screen. Then you would have a lot of time to post on message boards.

Developing such software is very time consuming, plus regular changes take place with brokers's software ,it is more time consuming updating software.
