For those experienced trading at this time of the year, does the market pick up start of Jan again or how long is this snoozefest likely to continue ? :cheesy:

Yes its dull. LSE closes 1230 24/12 and 31/12. 'Normal' trading 29/12, 30/12, 02/01.

Look for upside from first to third days of trading, see my post about 2009.
My plan for new years first week is to buy any dips.

Re

I don't have any idea regarding but I wish new year will give new scope o the market.

it's hard to say when this snoozefest is going to end but generally we'll have to wait till after jan in my view for any activity to bump up significantly. Given what we've seen, I'll say most are just dying for a short break.

When we get to next week (or this Friday for that matter) don't think that low volume and small price change from close to close is an indicator of little trading opportunity. Daily ranges could increase dramatically and without warning immediately after the holiday is over on all markets, prices might not be rising but they will be fluctuating, and that's where opportunity is. If you're a shareholder and can only go long, you might have to sit out the next 12 months, you should have already sat out the last 12 anyway (so what the heck are you doing?). But traders will see current major index patterns as suggesting huge pent-up tension in the markets and we ought to be ready for a big move in either direction.
