What now for the TT Forum.......

I have been part of the TT forum for several years and most of my posts are within this forum. Upto last week all was fine, until this whole shoddy business was revealed concerning paid services etc etc........I then posted my thoughts trying hard to be objective but fair, and to which I steadfastly stand over, however, I did'nt agree with these developments, and I voiced it. The result was that an instant banning from the TT forum was given to me (along with at least one other TT member who also posted his disappointment). This was given without warning nor explanation.

Now much as I have not lost any sleep because of the banning, as the whole affair is distasteful. I do have several questions to ask :

1. Although this was Grey's room, surely, he still must be subject to T2W's overall codes of conduct. Hence can he really be allowed to remove people because of a post by a member of his group, who posts onto the general board, of which the subject and content he does'nt agree with.

2. Since Grey has notified the mods that he no longer will be contributing to TT, what will now become of all the posts within TT.

I must finally add that I have been pleased with how the mods have handled this situation, especially Rathcoole and LM. Special privileges must not be perceived as existing for long standing members. We must all be subject to the same rules and conditions always.

Thank you.

On the basis of evidence, its quite clear that the answer to that quesion is he can do whatever he wishes. However his behaviour does have consequences for every other member of TT. Expulsion of members prevents them from sharing potential input from which others may benefit. I would also suspect that exploiting material given in good faith for commercial gain may discourage participation by others (although the whole potential exploitation of IPR by forum owners probably does that anyhow).

My access to Grey1's forum was also revoked, which is fine, he had the power to grant or deny aceess in the first place, so I have no complaints there. I'll leave others to conclude for themselves what his true motives are in removing those who critisise.

I think the mods hands are tied on this one, quite clearly Grey1 has been considered a "special case", but its sharky's forum, and whats the point of owning a forum if you cant do with it as you wish  The mods have already made it quite clear that "some are more equal than others", its always been the case, and it always will be. All you can do is expose the hypocrisy (not as it needs to be exposed, its crystal clear  )

I would like to follow up on this.

One of Greys last acts was to ban a few members of this forum from the TT forum, myself included.

If Grey is no longer going to bother with the forum, can we at least re-instate the members who were banned ? If you look at what I wrote on the subject, I disagreed with the concept of selling signals but I was not insulting or accusational. I just asked a few difficult questions. I don't feel my ban from that part of the forum had any merit nor did I get told why I was removed.

As I see it, we have a few options
1) let the banned members back in
2) make that part of the board completely open
3) put someone else in charge of the board

If not, then I would ask that the code contributions I made on that board be removed as even I can't read my own posts there any more !

Cheers

Pete

hi frank
i think in fairness this whole business with grey, JJ and the rest of the members of the tt forum would not have happened if there was a face to face discussion about the whole thing.. but that was not possible.. for the record jj has decided to not go ahead with trying to charge for grey’s calls etc.. and I don’t think grey was ever interested or behind the idea to start with.. just one of those misjudgements we all make from time to time..

So what of us members who dared to question what was going on & got struck off from the TT forum ?

Can I get back in OR have all my code & posts in the forum removed ?

Seems to me that if I can't even access my own posts, then at least I should be able to remove them.

My preference would of course be to be able to participate once more BUT if I can be banned without even being given a reason why, then I should also be able to have my contributions removed.

I too was "struck off" for daring to question what was happening. I did this because I felt that the original intention of the forum was in question and that JJs little venture would be detrimental to the forum and its members.

According to some members who have posted on the main board Grey1 has left the forum. For that reason I agree that the forum should either be opened up as a public one or that those people banned from it over the recent JJ debarcle should be allowed back in and a new forum owner designated.

The purpose of a private forum is to encourage sensible discussion among a group of like-minded people. Whilst it is a private forum it does, IMHO, have a duty to its members to adhere to its original intentions. Private forums tend to lead to members revealing more than they might in a public forum or going to considerable effort to generate posts and materials for use by others. For example Pedro created free TS code for others to use.

If people can be banned from them at the drop of a hat without even the mods approving it then this is not healthy for private forum discussion on this site.

i think it's a great shame that the hard work and effort
(not to mention the sheer technical competence)
that Pedro and others did, in developing the indicators, programming the what-nots
(i have no technical competence) etc, is so casually tossed aside.

you guys who were deeply involved must feel gutted ?

Could the Mods please provide clarification on what is now to happen to the forum.

Thank you.

It hasn't been discussed yet at mod level, also it is not clear whether grey1 has actually left the site and abandoned the tt forum for good.

Maybe grey1 will want the forum closed, if not and if grey1 permits it, then a new leader for tt would need to be selected that can drive the discussions forward with new ideas, they would also take over the role of moderator in that forum or delegate that responsibility.

Admin will make a decision on things as and when they know all the facts and wishes of those involved I guess.

If Grey1 permits it ??

Do you guys think you are going to get a sun-tan every time he bends over ?

A forum is the sum total of ALL of it's members and contributors.

Are you saying that if Grey1 tells you to close it down, we'll all lose access to our own contributions on there ?

Grey1 obviously got pissed off with what happened, he got pissed of with & banned people like me that merely raised a few questions for discussion.

The way I see it - if Grey1 no longer wishes to be involved then closing it down at his request is a fantastic way to upset the people that remain.

Yes you heard right.... if grey1 permits it

now ask yourself the next logical question in this shoddy afair, why is grey1 "more equal than others" or better still, ask someone who can answer that question for you.

T2w is going to dogs as far as I'm concerned. Private forums should be scrapped on a so called public forum. Why should anyone get special treatment? It's like the owners want to keep the special ones from leaving at the expense of others. Ok, they bring wisdom, experience, skill and many other good traits (apart from a few members arrogance), but the direction of t2w should be more focussed on helping newbies and freely sharing of information, no eliteism, no monopolies over "it's mine you can't use that" or "I'm the main man no one else is allowed".
