Hello everyone,

I have a phone interview coming up for a junior trader position. My understanding is that someone from HR will conduct it an not a trader. I am a starter and my academic background is not in finance.
What kind of questions can i expect? Someone told me they will fire numbers at me and expect me to do mental calculations.
Oh well, any thoughts u might have would be appreciated.

Cheers!

If you're concerned about maths questions, might be worth picking up this book:

Heard on the Street: Quantitative Questions from Wall Street Job Interviews: Timothy Falcon Crack: Amazon.co.uk: Books

I'd expect most of the questions to be more standard "fit" questions, so you need to be thinking about why you want to be a trader, why you like this company, why you chose your degree/uni, examples of times when you've taken risk/worked on your own/suffered a setback and overcome it/worked well in a team/shown leadership etc. There aren't really any right answers, it's pretty much a case of showing that you're the type of person who they would want working there.
