Has anyone been through this with so many courses and offers on the internet, which course should a newbie choose which is reliable and cost efficient?

I have not.

You have all the knowledge you need freely available in the form of books, websites, forums, articles etc. Clearly very cost efficient and comprehensive.

Trading success IMO is more dependent on your ability to observe the markets, observe how they work and then use your initiative, ideas and knowledge to design a trading system that suits you and your personality and that has an edge and uses sound money & risk management principles. If you can apply it with discipline, patience & consistency then you have a pretty good platform to be successful.

You need to stop looking for a guru, put your head down, do some study and make your own observations. It's really not that difficult!

The screen is your mentor. Everything you need to know is right there and even ****ing up liberally it will most likely be cheaper than many 'systems' being flogged out there.
I've been doing this nigh on a year now and I can say that I'm only just now starting to get it and beginning to trade with something something resembling a strategy.
Even now I bounce around from profitable one week to losses the next week, but its a big improvement on just straight losses.

You'll hear pretty much the same thing from people again and again: there is no quick fix.

Thing is what about questions you have rather spending hours looking for an answer a pro mentor may know it in 1 mins. Plus I always believe you have to be in a group of like minded people to be successful rather than on your own.

I think this is one of the reasons that forums like T2W are for, no? Ask a question, concentrate on something else for a while, come back and voila!

Plus I always believe you have to be in a group of like minded people to be successful rather than on your own.

It might pay to challenge that belief, tho it may depend on the individual concerned. Personally, I now avoid the analysis and views everybody else has on the market. I don't want to start second guessing my analysis because of what others have said will happen. I trade my own way, using on my own analysis and intuition, and are far better off for it. I allow the market to tell me what it wants to do. I don't mean to come across as arrogant, because I'm not, it just works better for me that way :)

I think paying for a mentor is a waste of time.

Would be interested to hear of any decent courses or online education. Has anybody got any recommendations? Babypips is the only decent website I can find for trader education online

thing is I am all for having a teacher I believe any job you do or anything new you learn comes from experience and guidance look at when you tried to take your first walking steps who guided you your parents did you learn from a book no, look at when you learned Maths who taught you the teacher through mistakes, look at when you learned to date how did you learn by looking at others, trading forex is the same concept you need guidance plus the internet has far too much information the teacher can join the dots and bypass a lot of irrelevant information you may be reading.

Unreal,

How many times are you going to get these sort of answers before you start to realise that your whole notion about paying to learn to trade is wrong. You must have asked the same thing ten times and every time people have responded telling you not to bother.

All you do is start a new thread and ask the same thing again, why cant you get it?

Why cant you get that paying is the norm and its how we live in the REAL world.

Why cant you get that paying is the norm and its how we live in the REAL world.

This is completely different.

Two things:

1. Most (not all, but the vast majority) of so-called trading educators will, to all intents and purposes, just rob you and fill your head full of cr@p which you must then purge before you can accomplish anything useful. In other words most f it is not just useless, it is worse than useless.

2. The actual process of discovery and learning is extremely valuable in itself. I could do what I do now had I simply been taught what I had to learn and experience myself.

Pboyles offers excellent advice and you would do a lot better if you listened to him.

So pay up and find out for yourself that everyone else was right.
Unreal is, sadly, unreal. It takes a certain type of stupidity to continue to look for short cuts to riches via a guru. More so when various replies from well meaning and experienced people (on the several threads started by Unreal) tell him he would be wasting his money. The guru gets richer (cos your paying him -get it now? ) And you get poorer.
Perhaps the deluded fellow should be left to pay his money and learn the hard way:rolleyes:

So do I believe you or over 100 written and video reviews on a course that people are happy with I go with the majority as just because Google is free they think everything else on the web should be free. I like free stuff don't get me wrong and there is a limit to paying for something, but those who say all these courses are just full of s**** are just skeptics I mean I in the last few months have tried learning forex as a newbie and getting nowhere as there is far to much information on these forums and internet there is no solid structure to follow. Another thing people wont tell you go for that or stay far away from that unless you pay a price. I would rather pay a few hundred pounds to a recognized tutor than spent 1 year reading these forums and trying to put everything together.

One thing I've learnt about trading is that you can't always compare it to the "real world". If anything, what ever you think you ought to do, you're best off doing the opposite. What ever you want to do, do the opposite. What ever you thought was correct is wrong. However, you can apply trading ideas to the "real world" - never try to outsmart a trader.

But it is true that we can only learn from our mistakes. I've told loads of people dipping their toe in the water to go slowly, start small and resist temptation to go big until they have a really good idea, close a trade if they think they're wrong, don't trade if you are bored; after two profitable trades, they go big and get raped.

The idea of working with a group of like-minded noobs is a funny one - they will all bring preconceived ideas to the table having read books and watched videos by failed traders. Nobody will bring real experience - at best they might be able to say they made a mistake buying Northern Rock because they thought it was cheap at £3.

Besides, what is a good tutor? They all say the same thing:
1) stuff on TA
2) stuff on FA
3) stuff on discipline
4) stuff on money management
5) a top secret indicator that nobody else knows about, usually a combination of the usual indicators with differing values; they'll change the numbers each time they have a new seminar and claim a revelation

I used to be heavily anti-tutor/seminar/coach/mentor if you look at my older posts on this forum; nowadays, I don't really care. If a noob loses £2k to a coach, they were probably going to lose their money, anyway. Might as well lose it to an individual rather than a faceless broker.

All you can do is keep trying, keep practising... and one day, eventually, before you run out of money, things may click.

Everybody that has replied to you has told you the same thing but you'd rather believe a testimonial from 'Mr B from London'. The problem here is that greed and the promise of quick riches has taken over and you dont want to listen to anybody that tells you its not going to happen.

You are desperately searching for somebody to tell you its not a scam and these guys will make you rich, then you'll blow your money on Kishore M or Secker and spend years regretting it.

Well he's going to blow his money so a T2W member might as well get it.
