Let's say i use a 1hr chart and i want to place the 25MA of a 4hr chart. I just have to create a 100MA chart on the 1hr chart right.
Then my the 25MA on the 4hr is shifted right 5 times. So that means i gotta shift the 100MA on the 1hr chart 20 times? So far i have tested and the intersection points seem to tally quite close.

Can any knowlegeable guy validate this?
Thanks.

Are you trading Forex? You can get averages done for you on many free chart sites, i.e.

http://www.dailyfx.com/charts/ChartStation.html.

With Finspreads, the charts do most timeframes for all their instruments.

I would not make too much work for yourself. :)

yea its about the overlaying of longer time frame MA on a shorter time frame chart. hey that's very true, i haven't thought of that, always thinking it was simply multiplying 4 to a MA to show on a 1hr chart. But I've always felt there should be more to it. This is right, the different closes on the bars would affect it.
Thanks.

Quick answer is that it will be similar. Longer answer is that how close it is depends entirely on where all the closes are in the intervening bars.

I looked into this in some detail for the '3 Ducks' method and the differences (at those averaging periods at least), while not quite negligible, are probably a long way down your list of worries.

yea. thanks all for your gd answers.
By the way can anyone teach me how to disable the subscribe function to threads that i post on. its irritating receiving lots of email. I can remove the subscription after i get subscribed automatically but im looking to remove it entirely. So that i never get subscribed in the first place.
