Markets closed,

Hi all,

I have just logged into my investopedia stockmarket simulator account and it says that the market is closed. Why is this when it is 15.20 on a Monday here in the UK.

I get this message:

"The current time is 10:31:47 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST). The market re-opens at 09:30 EST, which is 22 hours and 58 minutes away."

Also, no new chart data for today has come up on the yahoo finance charts yet.

What is going on?

Today is Tara Palmer-Tomkinson day in the US, which means they all get the day off. That's probably why your thingammyjig isn't working.

Oh, I thought it was because Victoria Beckham arrived in LA yesterday and the country closed down to greet her.

Hi lotrez,

It's Martin Luther King Day - a national holiday in the U.S. which means all stock markets are closed for the day.

They re-open Tuesday at 9:30am EST (2:30pm GMT) as per normal.
