Today I spent some time analysing how micro-impulses formed around the NY open in XAU/USD, and something repeated with almost perfect consistency:

1. Every sweep created a 2–4 pip micro-reversal before continuation.
These small retracements happened even when the main direction was strong.
It tells me liquidity checks are still more dominant than trend continuation during NY’s first hour.

2. Clean impulses rarely extended more than 6–10 pips before stalling.
Anything beyond that was either news-driven or trapped traders.

3. The most reliable entries were in the 2nd pullback after a sweep, not the first.
First pullbacks were jumpy and often faked out.

I’m curious if others here have noticed something similar — especially the pattern that after a sweep, gold gives a very short “micro-gift zone” before it snaps back.

Would be interested to hear how other short-term XAU traders approach these micro-structures.
