Trader #1: Made 80% in 1 year. DD=20%.

Trader #2: Made 50% in 2 years. DD=5%.

The definition of profitable is to make more profits. Assuming both traders have the same starting capital, Trader 1. Duh.

I know you're trying to sound intelligent and spin some "you got to look at DD not just ROI", but honestly, a smart trader/investor looks at Sharpe and Sortino ratios, not DD.

That said, ROI is still the most important singular metric.

A nice-looking Sharpe or Sortino ratio or DD are just statistics and statistics don't pay your bills.
